Ancient Cities: Yapahuwa

Yapahuwa was selected as the 4th major capital of Sri Lanka by the King Bhuvenakabhahu 1. The kingdom held it's reputation for it's security in times of invasion by kingdoms of South India and was a resting place of the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha. These photographs were captured by Janeth Fernando as he visited the ruins of the ancient city.
